In the 1950s, the owners of Medea founded Tagliabue Fratelli, a company specialised in the production of curved wooden frames for tube televisions.
This ability in woodworking and innovation of shapes materialised in 1956 with the creation of the medea chair, a seat with an unmistakable line characterised by “emptiness and fullness”.
The original moulds of the chair were recently recovered in the medea warehouses and put back into operation under the artistic guidance of Dimorestudio.
Founded in Milan in 2003 by Britt Moran and Emiliano Salci, Dimorestudio is an architecture and interior design firm renowned for its distinctive ability to superimpose different styles and eras. With its stratifications and juxtapositions of colour and harmonious contrasts, it boldly reinterprets the tradition of Milanese rationalist architecture and mid-twentieth-century design. The result is a subtle blend of drama and restraint, opulence and self-control.
Dimorestudio’s work for Sedia Medea has given one of the most iconic chairs of the twentieth century, designed by Vittorio Nobili, a hyper-contemporary aesthetic. It has achieved this with a rich array of nuances and innovative materials, while retaining the original lines, comfort, and versatility that have always been its hallmarks.
From 15 to 21 April, during the week of the Salone del Mobile in Milan, SediaMedea and Langosteria will offer a unique experience, inviting guests to enjoy the excellence of both Italian cuisine and Italian design at the same table.
At the Langosteria Café in the Galleria del Corso 4, and at the Langosteria Bistrot in Via Privata Bobbio 2, you can savour the culinary excellence of Langosteria in the comfort of a green and red lacquered SediaMedea with cushions, designed by Dimorestudio.
